1981 XL500s clutch cable routing

Recommended Posts

Hi ,

I put a new cable on a few weeks ago, I copied the routing of the existing cable but think it's wrong. Would anybody have a picture looking down at the instrument panel so I could see how it's routed? I have it coming from the right side of the bike up under the tank, up behind the headlight and up into the lever. Works fine but I don't reckon it's right.. I'm wondering if it should pass through a hole in the bracket that holds on the Speedo. There's a few wires going through that hole too.

Cheers

Tony

PS I have the service manual but can find a decent picture!

I don't have any experience with this bike but this manual may or may not be able to help

But for the price of 40$ it's definitely not worth buying if its just for the sake of routing something such as a clutch cable, correctly, especially since its working fine where it's at.

Thanks, but yeah, you're right, too much $$ just for a cable routing....i rerouted it as i thought it should be, looks better to me now, sometimes you just have to do it as you see it I guess.
