No carbon buildup on piston?

Recommended Posts

K so I am getting so frustrated with this bike😕 the problem is when I looked down at my piston with a camera there was absolutely no carbon buildup on the piston and it still looks new. What could cause this? The bike is a 2001 cr80r. (Thanks):bonk:

Lightly darker than the bare aluminium finish of an 'out of the box brand new piston'

means it's probably jetted just right and, ran as designed (riding MX and pushed hard) and the right premix type and ratio are used.

My YZ125 as well never has no carbon build-up whatsoever on the piston and inside the exhaust.

On the other hand a shiny piston (combined with a wet plug) might be indications of excess piston crown wash (too rich)

Probably you are running 100% synthetic oil at a very high fuel/oil ratio. What engine oil are you using and at what ratio?
