I recently bought a KTM 400 EXC 2007 and I drove it for a while and noticed it backfires a lot when decaccel as well when revving and letting go while in idle. I have tried configuring the fuel screw but doesnt seem to help. Does turning the screw in increase richness or lean it? Can it be clogged jets or wrong float level? Or is this simply normal?

Please help.

Fuel screw is for setting idle mix. Normal setting is about 1.5 turns from gently closed, fine adjust for a smooth idle.

Decel backfires are from a race 'muffler', no packing  r a air leak in the exhaust. Even stock mufflers have some decel pops. You own a race bike, this is the way it is.
