2003 klx 125 hard initial kick

Recommended Posts

Have a 2003 old 125 that is very difficult to kick to start the day but once warm it becomes a one kick wonder any ideas as to why the first kicking would be so difficult?

Appreciate any ideas of what to check.

Thanks

One possibility is the pilot jet is too lean. Just a guess but if you think about a cold bike needing choked, that blocks air, richening the fuel/air mix. When it is warm you don't need to choke it. Also check the carb boots are tight they may seal better when warm but leak air when cold. If you are turning off the fuel petcock make sure you wait until the carb is full before starting.
