How to install new turn signal on dr200?

So I somehow broke off the left rear turn signal when I swung my leg over the bike to get on. It broke right where it bolts in to the bike so I figured I would have to buy a replacement. Managed to get the exact same turn signal that was already on the bike. My question is do I have to cut into the wire coming from the bike and splice it with the wire from the turn signal? Or is there some connection to plug in the new turn signals without having to do that?
