Where’s this bolt go?

Help! Just got done putting my 2007 250X back together after removing and cleaning the carburetor and ended up with an Allen bolt. I double checked everywhere I could see and didn’t see anything missing. Also combed through the manual but no luck. I had the bike apart for a few months so it’s possible it’s from something else I worked on but I can’t think of what.

It's really hard to tell from that shot (no real scale to go by as it looks like the image is distorted), but check the float bowl on the carb.   Often the bowl screws are replaced with a socket head cap bolt like that.

Never seen a bolt like that (oem) on any of my Honda' s since '86.  And like JD said, it is a bad pic.

Try a search for "socket" in a pdf version of the CRF250X parts catalogue.  You should find several allen head bolts.

It does not look critical for carburetor operation as it is not sealed, more of a short depth chassis mounting screw.  My guess is you will find the location when you re-attach the push-pull bracket (if you have one) or a side cover etc...

Mountain bikes have bolts that look like that. . . if that's what your other projects were.

I think it’s the bolt that holds the cover that goes over the throttle cables on the side of the carb

If you look at the parts diagram it looks like that bolt goes on top of the carb cap that holds down a strap or clamp. The part I'm looking at is part #51 https://parts.southernhonda.com/a/Honda_2007_CRF250X/_51507_6259772/CARBURETOR/14KSC401_KSC4E2000D.html

What size is it 4,6,8mm ? Could be the throttle cable cover bolt as short as it is. Or the exhaust pipe rear mounting bolt, or side cover bolt, or the idle adjusting screw bracket to carb bolt, the fuel petcock mounting screw, the hot start cable bracket bolt, all these would have to be removed to get the carb off.

I'm thinking the same thing. It looks like the same length too and it was an Allen key bolt.

Here’s the specs on the bolt: 10mm x 1.5 thread, 8mm Allen, 16mm length
