poor starting

Hi everyone, I have a 1975 wr400 that is a pain to start, it will start and run very once in a blue moon but I am struggling to find the right technique. has anybody that owns one or had one in the past got any top tips please?

Does this bike have contact points or a CDI type ignition. I had a 73 250WR and condensation inside the ignition cover was a problem until it was vented.

The early electronic ignitions were prone to failure, they weren't well grounded. Make sure the timing is right, too advanced is hard to start. Jetting needs to be right, as well. Carb should be clean...

Are you kicking left, or right foot? Either way, you need a full stroke.... No stabbin at it.
