joshstefan Posted November 26, 2018 Hello, I need to get a new front tire "have a paddle on the back of course" Usually I just throw any knobby on the front but after looking i found a few front tires "made for sand." i will post them below. https://www.motosport.com/bridgestone-battlecross-x10-front-tire?variant[BGS0033]=BGS0033-X001-Y001 https://www.motosport.com/michelin-starcross-sand-5-front-tire?variant[MIC004G]=MIC004G-X001-Y001 Has anyone tried these tires in the dunes? are they worth it? or does it not even make a difference & just throw whatever on the front? Also what tire pressure are you running in the front & rear in the dunes? been trying to mix it up seeing what i like best. Usually around 9-10 lbs. Have a 450. -thanks
KERZ Posted November 30, 2018 (edited) Tires like those are great for sand tracks like Southwick Mass and the south Florida tracks. Terrain like that is where there's a layer of loose sand on top with it packed hard underneath. In conditions like that it's good to have a tire that's ready for the conditions to dig in if you make it through that loose layer to the hardpack. However in dunes its just bottomless sand and basically any front tire is gonna dig in like a slot car in our experience. And yes that last pic is level haha, turn n' burn.
