Beta Xtrainer assembly things to look for?

Recommended Posts

Hi, just got a 2018 xtrainer, can anyone tell me what to look for that could seriously loosen up or fall off? I know about the zip ties at the pipe, and read a lot about the oil injection. Anything you can think of please let me know. Thank you.

Your horn will  (eventually) fracture at the horn bracket.

Check the handlebar clamp bolts. The bars are installed by the dealer.

I only checked other bolts during routine maintenance. Never really found any issues. You may want to discard the gas cap vent device built into the stock cap, and get an inline hose vent instead. I am not the only guy that had it fail and cause vacuum in the tank, starving the bike of fuel. If you remove the gas cap and it sucks air, your tank isn't being vented correctly.

Put a wrench on the axle pinch bolts, caliper bolts, shifter fixing bolt (mine had backed off a little), controls bolts, and radiator clamps (snug them up).

My horn bracket broke while riding and the bolt that mounts the subframe to the top/front frame fell out twice. 300RR
I dont see why i should keep that horn on.

Check the chain tension. Beta's spec for that is way to tight. Mine was to tight and the c.s. seal failed. It should be about 1 3/8", they spec 7/8".

You can google Xtrainer 300 and thumpertalk and just read.. got lots of info since Xtrainer has been around a few years now.  Here’s some 300 rr info. Maybe some stuff crosses over..

Thanks Barry!!

I have a 2018 XT. Put some loctite on the post that the front of the seat pan slides under. Mine came off in the middle of a ride.

Zip tie all OI hoses. Mine leaked from day 1 in the airbox.
Float Level seems to be a common issue on these. Check to see if you leak gas while on the kickstand. Mine poured out.
Zip tie them to the connectors? Today i will take it on the first ride.

Any where a hose hits a fitting, zip tie so they don't pop off.

There have been instances where the oil hoses disconnect.

I would mix up pre mix at 100:1. Should the OI fail then at least you're covered.

You may as well delete the entire system if you're going to pre-mix anything into your gas (after the break-in period)

Only advantage I can see is the long day trips where you may hit up a gas station on your ride. I bought a little mixing container that holds enough oil for 1 tank full of gas that i carry in my pack.

I do plan on doing that in the future.

Inspect your OI system before every ride and after every ride. :prof:

Be sure to remove it before it shows any signs of failure. :smirk:
