1997 DR350SE - Carb fuel line routing

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

New to the forum. Just cleaned/rebuilt my carb. As far as I know, everything appears to be stock.

Bike sat for 2-3 years. Cleaning gas tank and replacing original petcock with new non-vacuum type. (no Prime setting, just on, off and reserve)

2 questions:

1) Does anyone have fuel line routing pics? A couple of lines fell off carb before I capsule tell where they went.

2) Do I need to cap off a port on the carb since the new petcock has no prime?? If so, how do I do that?

Thanks in advance!!

Which carb do you have? I have the CV type BST33 on my 94 and had to cap off the petcock vacuum port when I did the same mod. It's on the right side (points at the exhaust pipe), near the top and front. Found this pic on google images.

Thanks for the pic Charles. I have that same carb. That answers that question!

Now just need to make sure I route the other lines correctly. There's also a vent line I believe, but with all the research I've done, I've yet to find a good pic of fuel/vent line routing.

I've replaced the stock fuel line with 1/4" blue polyurethane from ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/131468564868 along with a 90 degree fuel filter so I can see if it gets clogged. Here's a 2 pack of the filters, https://www.ebay.com/itm/162609119075 but I believe I got the 10 pack so I could put them on 3 of my machines and my dad's quad and keep extras in our riding bags, tool box, car glovebox, etc. Ignore that white plastic piece between the filter and petcock. I have a dual petcock Acerbis tank. The short piece of line between the filter and carb is yellow polyurethane or tygon line and is maybe 6-12 months older than the blue stuff. The large port on the other side of the carb goes to the air box or up into the frame.

Thanks again Charles.
I'm attaching a pic of my carb installed on the bike. There are 3 hoses that need to be attached. I capped the petcock inlet since I upgraded petcock.

The other 2 are what I have left. Top left I'm assuming is a vent tube. Just route over and down I guess?

The brass inlet on bottom right, is this carb overflow? If so, where is this routed to?

Thanks!

I think some carbs have two "vacuum" type connections, one for the auto fuel tap, one for an oil vapour vent possibly. So the lower right needs blanking as well.

The main carb vent is next to the "V" in "Vent", or if that is blanked there is one the other side.  A short 6" hose just hangs down.

Yes the main vent is larger and towards the rear of the carb. Your vacuum cap is the in right place. I did not have the bottom brass nipple and have to assume thedktor is correct and it also needs to be capped to prevent a major vacuum leak. There are DR350 vent diagrams around. https://advrider.com/f/threads/dr350-thread.230695/page-1040#post-23451498
