you only need to remove the m6 nut that holds the piston on, just use the cap like Mog suggested.

Thanks, would you still advise disassembling the whole fork, or can I just remove from the bike and lower the outer chamber tube?

So I installed the MX-Tech Mid valve today, and have one question. It seems now even after proper bleeding there is a mechanical sound as soon as it goes to rebound, this happens everywhere in the stroke. I tried bleeding it twice, it can't be this. Is this due to the float in the valve or possibly the check valve?

Also I found this weird rubber cap looking thing on my bench, could be from a different project but thought I'd double check to make sure I didn't forget it somewhere!

The rubber cap is for the rebound clicker.

I think you are thinking of the cap on the bottom of the fork, this isn't that. That one is like 3/4" diameter.

I'll call MX-Tech but sounds like this clicking noise on the rebound is ok. Thanks Bowser.

So to add my experience.  Bought a 2020 300 xc after racing a yz250x for the last 2 years. I was surprised how harsh these forks were. I ride primarily single track and the deflection on rocks and roots was pretty bad. I did the mx tech A48r kit cap and leaf spring mid valve with the enduro valving. The results are really good they feel very similar to the kyb spring fork. Nice and plush no more deflection

Kinda jumping on this late. Is the MX-Tech leaf spring just a preloaded face shim via a cupped piston? Couldn't the same/similar damping curve be achieved by using a ring shim setup with a similar "cup" depth and using the stock midvalve piston?

Also, this would produce a vastly digressive damping curve. Has anyone put their MXTech Leaf Spring Midvalve on a dyno or ran the numbers in ReStackor?

I thought they gave a range of to be In 45.25mm down from top of check valve to nut on rod, you can add spacers directly under check valve

Im at 50mm no matter what that top check valve/nut bottoms out

So rode it around a few more times i guess it feels ok, i'll find out race day unless mc-tech replies and says something wrong
