Thanks, I see what you're talking about. Doesn't look easy to remove to me?

I don't think it's just a removal and plug. Radiator, water pump cover, inlet, hoses...looks like a lot of stuff has to change for the thermostat to come off.

Why is there a thermostat on the new model to begin with? Is there something about the new models that requires one?

Cleaner burn, mostly emissions. Thats my take anyway.

Any chance someone has raced or rode single track with one yet? Not d/s or 2 track.

Gonna be getting one ready to race the mint 400 this year

Well still haven't seen a 450X on the trail but doesn't matter now. I raced an enduro yesterday on my 450RX that was wet(sprinkled all day), slick as snot, rutted up, ect. I'm done fighting heavy bikes in that crap. Going with the lightest bike with e-start. I race over 60, 16 of us started only 4 finished, and I was that 4th one. But the big Honda kicked my butt. A friend showed up with a new 250RX, he seemed to really like it and it ripped out day. Although it did get hot just like my 450 a couple of times. This event was a tough one!!

Sandwinders in the TSCEC.

woodsguy, the op was referring to the new 450X not RX.

The new bike feels very similar to the old one in singletrack. It's good, but not this bike's forte.

I am the OP, LOL. And I imagine the X weighs more than my RX. I was thinking, since I really like my RX but it can be a beast at times on true TX (lol) single track, that the X might be a little softer hit and more trail oriented suspension. And it probably checks those boxes. My last post just sums up that at 67 years old, I don't want to fight and pick up a big bike like I did Sunday. Just going to look in another direction.
