Wet Braking

Recommended Posts

So I live in Arizona so wet brakes are rare.  Lately we have had a lot of snow and some rain. Pretty common to have to cross small streams.  I have noticed a loss of braking performance when I get my discs wet. Surprised me the amount of loss and the effort to get them dry.  Not a big deal but I expect to do some riding this summer in the east.  What has everyone found works well for wet braking performance? Full metallic pads? Do they sell solid disks?

They will dry pretty fast. Drag them a bit earlier and you won't have a problem. Biggest issue will be losing tire grip when the brakes grab.

Here in the Catskills of NYS, we get lot's of rain which makes mud, and vented/slotted discs with some semi metallic pads dry things up fast but the problem is brake squeal until you get back home and clean the up with brake cleaner.
