Adding led’s

Recommended Posts

I have a ktm 150xc that I’d love to get some led light pods mounted onto. I have an average of 12v ac current coming out of the stator at idle, and a max of 40v ac. I know I have to add a voltage regulator and rectifier but the plan was to add two 18 watt 12v led pods making for an overall amperage of 3 amps. I have absolutely no clue if this is too much for the stator or not, how can I find out, can anyone help me?

Thanks

Looking to add two 18 watt led pods to my bike but I don’t know how many amps the stator can withstand. The bike runs 12v ac at idle and 40v max. I’m adding in a 36v 22000 microfarad capacitor and I know I need a voltage regulator and bridge rectifier but how do I tell how many amps the stator can withstand? By the way, each led pod needs 1.5 amps making for a total of 3 amps.
