I have recently adjusted my valves on my KLR 250 (1992) within the factory specs, because there was engine chatter coming from the head. Upon doing so I made sure I had everything to a T. I  made sure I found TDC before adjusting my valves. I loosened them because they were about .007 and the factory calls for .008-.009. I have heard “slappy valves are happy valves.” To be safe I set all four valves to .010. Yet I took it for a short drive to let it warm up and listen to see if I heard anything. To my surprise the engine chattered had worsened. I’m having a really hard time trouble shooting the issue.

Any suggestions or responses. Anything is helpful.
