2017 yz250f rear shock on a yz250

Hey fellas, my rear shock is blown. 

I can get a 2017 yz250f shock cheap. It’s not in my hand to try out. But I’m guessing it should fit. They didn’t turn the motor around on the 250f. So my thinking is it should fit. 

Ive seen they say they are different. I understand with the 450 reverse engine. . the 250 is the same as always. 

I should mention my yz250 is a 03.

The shock body for the YZF is on the left side. The YZ shock body is on the right side... I think you are going to run into some fitment issues..

This. Shock will not fit. The 250f did get the reverse head in 2014. Any pre 14 250f or pre 10 450f shock should fit. Of course valving may not be ideal.

     I didn’t realize they reversed the 250. 

They say 06-09 will fit. So I’ll just go with what is known to work. I just thought a 17 shock would be the shit. 

As far as valving, the 250f is slightly heavier than the 250. The spring could be stronger possibly. But I figure my 185lbs might equal that back out. I believe the valving itself to be probably close to the same. The YZ and the yzj250 are so close I’m weight.

I believe the 4 stroke shocks are also a little longer beside what was said above.
