Need help figuring an easy way to put a new timing chain on my yz250

Recommended Posts

I have a 2002 yz 250f and when I purchased this bike nothing wrong with it except I was told something about needing a new timing chain

Timing chain is easy to do but... because it is so easy, I have top wonder why the seller did not just do it. Requires a new stator cover gasket and a chain, about $50 total at most. I also replace tensioners when I replace a chain. A 17 year old bike, I'd wonder what else it needed.

Pull fuel tank, valve cover, drain oil, remove stator cover, flywheel (you need a puller for this). Remove tensioner, and cams. Remove old chain, replace, reassemble, timing cams of course. About a one hour job.
