Tire Test - Time Lapse (Beta 430 RR-S)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I like to work with data and facts when it comes to tires. I decided to put more brand new aggressive dual sport tires on my 2019 Beta 430 RR-S and observe the wear over time. I purchased the Kenda Trakmaster II ($54) for the rear and the GoldenTyre 216 Fatty ($94) for the front.  I tackled the California Back Country Discovery Route over the last 5 days and logged a total of 884 miles on the tires.  I put the tires through it’s paces. The tires saw dirt, rocks, deep sand, washboard, deep ruts, water crossings, mud, snow, hail and pavement. See the results for yourself.

They sure do look good still, hard to tell exactly without a ruler there. How did they handle as the trip went on, did you notice any changes? To add to the data table you could have measured the loss of tread daily and noted if there were any specific terrain highlights (thought the CABDR is fairly consistent), including how many road miles per day as well would play a big role in wear. Thanks for the pictures and update.

I have relatively new set of Dunlop 606's on now and plan 350 miles on the AZBDR starting tomorrow, so far on the one ride I have taken with them I am extremely pleased with the handling, though the ride was cut short due to other issues with the bike.

Rear is near shot for the eastern wet spring I riding. I'm on the other side for the Goldentyre as it wasn't any good to start with but it still have life left.

I don't see much of any use other then upright? Heck the tits are still on the side knobs... What data was gathered?

The tires did everything I wanted them to do in all conditions.  We ran in all types of terrain via the California BDR from -282 feet up to 8,375 feet. From 98 degrees to 28 degrees (hail & snow).

Most of the terrain is fairly open and upright. It is not tight single track or a lot of sharp corners  in “hero dirt”.  With regards to pavement, I estimate it was about 100 miles. The rest was rocky, deep sand, mud and open desert type terrain.
