250FX Fork Tube Height

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I know this is all relative to the terrain and rider....  Has anyone tested different fork tube heights to see at what point the 2015-2019 YZ250FX goes from good, great, back to poor turning and stability.  I’m not really doing high speed riding - more slow to mid speed woods / offroad.

In my experience with the 450fx the fork height has less to do with it than the rear end height. The back end is really too high. I shortened my shock 7mm and ran my sag anywhere between 100-108 mm depending on conditions. Much better corner stability.

I am currently running 20mm fork height and the bike is nice & stable at normal human type speeds.  I don't go screaming down gravel roads so I wouldn't know if it was unstable at that kind of speed but I suspect it wouldn't be any different.

I am also running a Fastway linkage set at the lowest height which probably makes a bit of difference too.
