Towing a fifth wheel with F250 short bed

Recommended Posts

Just bought a fifth wheel rig and have an 07 F250 with the 6'7" bed. Have never towed a 5th wheel before, have years of experience towing large trailers of the rear end. Wondering if there are any Ford SB owners out there who hav had experience towing a 5th wheel and do you have a sliding hitch or not. I'm leaning toward getting a slider, but how often are you at or close to 90 degrees? Don't wanna damage my cab, the front of the rig if rounded slightly at the corners.

Thanks for any input (form folks with any SB truck).

I had a 2015 Voltage toy hauler (44' long I believe) and I towed it with my 2015 F250 4 door short bed.  I have the B/W flip over goosneck system which the fifthwheel plugged into without the slider.  I never had any issues with clearance or towing.  I took that thing into the desert multiple times.  As long as you have the right adjustments you should not have any issues.  I did have airbags and overload suspension and I made sure I had really good tires on my truck (rated to 4050lbs ea.)
