2018 300 xcw jetting recommendations (stock carb)

Recommended Posts

I am working on a friends bike and  when i get it running again he will be using  Motul 710 syn oil at 50:1 mixture, Are the service manual recommendations pretty good ? we are at sea level and will be riding 16-24 deg, I know the jetting was changed for the 2018 bikes and should be decent .If i use the ktm jetting  will  50:1 ratio  work with the ktm  recommendations or should i use a diff jetting for 50:1 ratio or just stick with 60:1? i wouldn't mind the bike being a bit rich  "just incase".

Should work just fine, always have a ear and and eye on your engine (spark plug).

You can use either ratio, 50:1 or 60:1. Difference is minor and requires no jetting changes. Never use the terms rich/lean related to an oil/fuel mixture 😉

KTM factory settings will still be on the rich side at 60:1 at sea level, but just slightly. The manual jetting settings are fine for sea level and my bike worked great at sea level. The recommended settings start to show problems above 5k feet.

any updates on this?  My 18 300xc seems pretty fat at Sea level at 61-78F temps jetting per the manual.  I have not fouled a plug, but not super clean at the bottom.

I am no pro but my advice would be try adjusting the air screw if that don't help  try one size leaner on the pilot jet .
