2004 KX250 KickStarter

Recommended Posts

Need a new Kickstarter for my 04 Kx250. Having a hard time finding OEM or aftermarket. What other year models will fit my bike? I’ll need the entire assemble just like the pic shows..

It’s worn so much that it’s rattling against my Pipe no matter how much I tighten it down. Also it’s getting stuck on my foot peg every time I kick it over.

That’s the height kawasaki should have used back then. The stock ones were ridiculously tall.

Not only tall, but entirely too close to the bike. The kx250f kicker makes it feel more like a yz250 kicker, which I like.

I order one off eBay for 64$, should be here on Monday. I’ll post a pic of what it looks like on the bike when I get it.

I do agree though, the stock Kickstarter is way too tall. I tried putting an old Kickstarter from an 04 Kx250F, but the spindle/shaft Was way to small to fit on the 2-stroker

The kicker shaft diameter was increased on the KX250 around 2002 I think.  Your 04 will have the larger diameter shaft.  You may be able to swap the splined portion of the kick lever onto the new lever if necessary, depending on what parts are worn out.  The lower knuckle of the kicker is steel and the lever is aluminum so if anything is worn out I bet it is the aluminum lever.

No fit on the 2013 Kickstarter, the shaft diameter is too small.

When I have time I’ll try taking the old connection & try to mate it to the new Kickstarter. Who knows if that will fit either. Have to get this stripped screw out 1st somehow..

Jimmy rigged it together. Think I would have been better off spending the extra $ for the OEM. Hopefully it won’t rattle against the frame too much. If I position it down the other way 1 notch it rattles against the pipe. Also don’t have as much down motion on the Kickstarter as stock. I see it’s going to wear quickly on the frame.

I’ll run it for a while & see what it’s like but don’t think it will last more then a year before I replace..
