thinking about selling my truck for one similar to the ones below. I used to do construction back in FL, but have no experience with solar panels or "portable" electricity

so my idea was to run a few 12v batterys for light and some kind of heated rinse off.

I had this for a good while,

it is  17’ Forest River Wolf Pup. Was about GTWR was about 5500 and could handle 2 bikes inside (i would usually carry my bike on the back hitch so I could hang out inside easily..

it was pretty cool, and simple as could be for fully equipped.

now I have a 36’ 5er and it is actually a pretty expensive extravagance to maintain by comparison, and it doesn’t fit where my old little one would.

but having a hot shower, somewhere comfortable to hang out when the weather is bad (a/c, heat, stove, micro, flush toilet, shower, sink, and do on) is why I go with a trailer.

lots of friends with sprinters etc, but too minimalist for me.

I'm sure this will get moved but my van setup. I usually sleep in a 12 person tent (got it cheap and nice to be able to stand up in, put my bike in it if I need or can have like four buddies playing cards or something if the weather POURING rain. Otherwise I've recently added a 2nd popup and for shade etc and air mattress in the van if its only for a few days and don't want to deal with the tent.

Places I normally dirt bike/camp have pretty good camp sites and clean toilets but IF I won the lottery, I'd a pretty good idea of what I'd get :)

Big thread on motovans in the hauler section...

20190124_143325.jpg

If been thinking of adding some sort a screen behind the front seats mainly to block off seeing the bike in the back if I park somewhere but I like the idea of what you have. Is this something you made?

Otherwise rarely if ever need it but have been thinking of easy setup to use with  blanket like I have hanging from the pop up in my 2nd pic. That was a morning pic and need it in the afternoon to keep the sun out cus it was HOT

For my 05 Savana I've recently also made some mosquito screens for the front windows and been thinking of some ideas for the back/side for when I'm sleeping in the van and the bugs are bad but rarely sleep in the van so I'm not that motivated :)

Yep, a local upholstery shop made it for me. Snaps onto the ribs right at the front edge of the rear side door. It has a clear section so I can see thru the side windows. Helps keep the ac up front, and blocks outsiders view.

Ive seen similar setups to these around where I live and its usually Europeans who are doing around the whole expeditions stopping for a bit while on the west coast of Canada.

If money was no object, I could set one of these up to carry a couple of different bikes and live quite comfortably getting anywhere I want to drive this to and park, then taking the bikes out :)

Ya I don't have windows in my van but saw yours and good idea with the snaps cus I've been thinking about mounting and I can buy them and fab something up sans zipper :)

Also, don't forget to check your local tailor.  They have done similar work for me in the past and were reasonably priced.

I had mine add a full length zipper to each leg of a great pair of hunting pants so I could easily put them on while up in the stand.

05 sprinter.  Fits plenty, can be a hotel room at night.  Cot fits over wheelwell.  Havent done any solar power though.

I use some of this on the walls of my van from Home Depot and applied using 3M spray adhesive mostly for sound damping.

reflectix-radiant-barrier-bp48025-64_100

I then covered with thin plywood to protect the walls and mount stuff to. I didn't do the ceiling cus really not trying to insulate it for heat loss cus when I occasionally sleep in it I bring a couple of sleeping bags and a duvet in case it gets cold :)

I welded in a couple of these for tie downs and made a removable brace that goes behind the front seats posts to stop the bike from rolling forward.

Didn't cut the plastic right but oh well :)

Frost King duct insulation on walls/ceiling.  The foam backed stuff.  $18/roll.  I tried 3M on ceiling but summer heat made it peel.  Frost king stays put.

floor is Herculiner, 1 gal can will do it.  Around $90/gal.  2-3 coats.  Wears really well, can hose out cargo area.
