Did Justin sandbag the last few laps so his teammate would lose his chance at the title?

I think it's a strong possibility!

Cooper looked over in the whoops then coasted through the corner

I thought that right away, when he went from leading by a decent margin, then mysteriously gets caught by Ferrandis, then to 3rd.

A good teammate would have stayed in 2nd throughout the moto and held Adam at bay

Maybe he likes AC better than Ferrandis?

It’s hard to like a Frenchman

Marvin is the exception

They finished with a 20 point gap, wouldn't have made a difference.  AC would have had to finish back around 16th for Ferrandis to make up that point gap and tie him in the season long standings, and then still would have lost due to the tie breaker.

Exactly.  But that doesn't help the conspiracy theorists here.

In that scenario Ferrandis would have won the title

Both had 7 moto wins coming into Ironman

I think it's overalls.  The rule book is not clear, you could easily interpret it as moto wins, and they should re-write it, but it says race wins as a tie breaker, and if that is even a tie, then the last moto.  They do differentiate race and moto, but it could be read differently by different people the way it's written.  It clearly does state race and moto separately, race meaning overall.  Kind of dumb the way they wrote it if you ask me.

2.20 Championship Points
a. Class Championships will be decided based on total series points accumulated from each race. Riders will earn championship points for each race according to their respective official finishing position. Points will be awarded to 20th place per moto.

b. In the event of a tie for the championship, the winner will be determined based on the number of race wins during the series. If the tie remains, the number of place finishes of 2nd , 3 rd, etc., will be tallied until the tie is broken. If the tie continues to remain, the final moto finish at the last event will determine the champion.

c. In all other cases of ties for championship positions, the final moto finish at the last event will determine the final position in championship standings.

d. Championship points will be awarded per moto based on the following point scale:

In 1977, Glover and LaPorte were tied in points for the 125 title.  Glover had two wins (overalls), LaPorte had one.  Glover won the title on the tie breaker.  https://vault.racerxonline.com/1977/mx/intro

Weege talked about the possibility of a tie breaker during the first moto and said it was moto wins

Seems odd considering a 1-2 and 2-1 have the same # of Moto wins.

Thought there would be a thread about this.

1- Take the lead so your teammate has no chance.

2- Fade so your teammate has no chance

WTH? That shit looked on purpose.

Justin's a punk. If he cant win he doesn't want his team mate to win. Adam still would have won but the last few motos Sexton gave him points as well as Justin.

Hes gonna choke at MXON.
