what engine parts ?

Needs main seal  (reason it was parked up) so a seal kit to start with. Top end was fresh , but will pull jug and have a look......... top gasket set.

Poured oil down plug - It turns over ok . Headset bearings gone , mabey local bearing shop?

Rear brake caliper incomplete, front master cylinder seized

Greg Brink owned this - was well maintained, think i'm 3rd owner .

Cleaned it up today , plastics and rubber bits still in good condition.

everything is still there including Haynes Manual ?

any suggestions appreciated.

Yes, check out the OEM fiche on Rocky mountain and make a list of what is and isn't avail

You can probably buy a used front MC from almost any bike if rebuilds aren't avail, but try and get close on the listing size by some google searching.

They should also have aftermarket headstay bearings.

Thanks for the website info - checked all sites mentioned , there is still a lot of parts-OEM and aftermarket available for older YZ's ?

Pulled the jug and inside was mint. Nice cross hatching on the bore (10hr max running)

found the expected oil residue on flywheel due to blown seal , taking eng out to engineer riding buddy to check bearing play..... crank looked good no heat marks or corrosion.

Noticed a broken bolt for front sprocket cover , will extract using proper method (not Dewalt in shed)

will do all oil seals at same time.

Reeds and cage looked healthy - no chips or cracks/ 2hrs of work on front brakes got them freed-up, found jelly in master cylinder lol,  need new pads.... Fr disk all good.

Attached in next post is a pic of the job-sheet from the bike shop who sorted rebore in 1990. I taped it inside the manual for future reference......

I was an apprentice back then, $350 was a weeks wages......ouch!

Jobsheet says 1985 for engine not sure bout frame?

The port coming from reed intake block is for the energy induction canister I think - fuel tank is under seat so vac fuel pump prevents starvation.

Effortless 5th gear wheelstands on these machines .......aaahh the good old days, looking forward to goin nuts on this thing again :jawdrop:

Now you can get a knock-off piston kit for $20 delivered. Back then nothing was ever available as a kit. Sometimes you would have to buy rings or cir-clips one at a time. A rear sprocket under $60 was a DEAL. I guess labor was always included.
