Cold start difficulties

Recommended Posts

Ok so the engine I'm running is a pitster pro 140cc oil cooled engine, when I cold start the bike it will not start with the choke on, yet if I twist the throttle the smallest amount and kick it over it will generally start within a few kicks, then I hold the throttle on till it warms up, so I was just wondering why it would start like this but not with the choke and should I be worried if there's an underlying issue or not, or if everything is fine and there's nothing to worry about and it's just how this bike starts well that's fine too.

Thanks for any help or comments.

Choke is designed to richen the fuel mixture to help the engine to start, some bikes need it more than others. Climate and altitude can also effect whether it need choke to start also. I have had quite a few bike that didn’t needs choke but I am at sea level in FL. I say if it doesn’t need choke, just run it.
