Is it normal to have oil buildup at the bottom of the forks?

Recommended Posts

I have just recently bought a 2006 Honda crf250r and noticed that there was oil build up around the bottom of the fork. The oil was pretty clean. Also the bike really hasn’t been rode very much.

If you mean that there is fork oil at the bottom of the fork externally while the fork is mounted to your bike, this is not normal. Your seal is weeping.

You can try to clean the seal and hope it starts doing it's job or swap the seals over.

If you are new to bikes I'd recommend having a shop do the work.

If you are getting oil on your boot from riding that means your lug is leaking at the bottom of the lower leg.
