Looking for insight on this ‘97 KDX220!

Recommended Posts

I’m a new guy here and posted in the “which bike” forum, but thought I would try to seek a bit more advice.  Looking for a beginner woods bike and stumbled across what looks to be a well kept ‘97 KDX220. They are asking $2100 for it, not sure if that’s about right for the condition or if it’s high.  Also any mods I should consider to make it a bit better?  I’m 6’3” and 230 lbs just for reference.  Leaning towards this bike simply because I’ve read nothing but good things about it.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

It is a great woods bike. Your going to have to spend $ to get the suspension dialed. Stock springs front/rear are too soft for a bigger rider. Has the previous owner done the top end? The 220 has a weak oem piston as well (known to explode) so replacing it is in your future. I say $2100 is a bit too high for a ‘97. Id feel better about it at $1800 cuz it needs a few things.
