Hairline crack magnetic cover and hard water stains

Hi

I need a bit more help  

First question:

I took the magneto cover off my engine and I noticed two hairline cracks in the cover. 

Is this something I should be worried about? 
Should I be looking for a replacement cover?

Second question:

I noticed the static assembly is dull. Should I be polishing these things up?

Third question  

With the cover off I noticed the inside assembly had grains of sand and hard water stains. I’m going to clean that up but anything to be worried about?

So I gotta say...in a polite tone....all that corrosion is from moisture, maybe the bike lives in a wet, salty environment, or maybe the cracks in the cover have been leaking water. 

Also I see a loose engine mount bolt...that looks to be rather wobbled out??

I wonder if the mag has been rubbed because the crank bearings are bad or at one time it hucked a crank??

Hi

 No idea regarding  the history of the bike. 

My son and I bought it online as a winter project. I also thought that the hard water stains were sea water related but the bike’s registration says it was first bought in Ontario and been here ever since. And we don’t have sea water heat  

Good eye regarding the bolt. It’s loose to remind me that I need to add a washer to it. 

Should I be polishing up the stator?

All of that powder and build up in the case is corrosion which is typical. Just clean it up with some scotch-brite and wire brushes, then coat the surface with some type of corrosion inhibitor like WD-40 Specialist Long-Term Corrosion Inhibitor or LPS3. The stator looks fine and can be coated with the corrosion inhibitor, just don't get any on the crank shaft, the taper needs to be free of any oil/residue. If you choose to JB weld the cover, then stop drill the crack and use JB weld original.

Actually it's good for a lot of things. Cleaning plastics and metals and it is a light lube. As you say it's primary use is water displacement but to say it's good for nothing else is just false.

I always use it to clean the stator and leave a light lube to prevent the ignition area from looking like above.
