XT200 clutch cover

Recommended Posts

Well, I got my first bike, an 83 XT200. It's hard to start cold, but the biggest issue is a cracked clutch cover right next to the kick start. It's proving extremely difficult to find a replacement, and it's not quite powerful enough for me. I'm curious if anyone has put an XT250 engine in one, what things might need changed or if it's a fairly simple swap. Thank you for your time!

It would be about as easy as swapping an engine from another bike into your car. Nothing will "bolt right up", and it would be a custom project. On a scale of 1 to 10 on desirability of doing such a thing, I rate it about a negative 20.

I wouldn't do it. It would also greatly negate what an XT200K does well: Feel small and light in weight.

I would try a crankcase cover from a TW200 if I couldn't find a decent used one for the XT200K. I'm not 100% certain the TW200 crankcase cover would fit, but there's a good chance.

It's not just cracked, I looked at it again and its broke off. Guess it's time to find a different clutch cover.
