KTM 200 EXC FORKS LEAKING?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

After my last ride I noticed a small amount of oil on my forks! Could I have some advise on whether this is a bad leak and if I can do a temp fix before I change the seals? Will a clean out if all the crap potentially help this issue?

Also it appears I do not have any dust seals so the forks as they are shown in the photo!

See attached photos.

Use a thin feeler gauge to go up behind the seal not for the dust seal and clean out any mud that might have accumulated

It's hard ,a thin flat screw driver followed by a fatter flat blade

I got it out and used a milk bottle to clean behind the seals (see photo quite abit of crap). Only a small amount of fluid came out whilst cleaning so I don't think a top up is rrquired. Followed up with another clean of the forks and compressed them maybe 10 times and wiped residue after each time.

I now have NO residue on the forks when compressed so looks like a successful clean and seals seem to be in ok working order 🙂 thanks
