First off.. you need to figure out what voltage the is regulator putting out at idle, and off-idle.. Plus, posting this question in the WR forum might be more beneficial.

However, factory that bike puts out A/C current which kills DC batteries and electronics.  Once you float the ground on the stator it puts out a rippled DC with an output large enough to charge a battery.  The battery is there to further help rectify the rippled DC to make it more stable for electronics and to provide the means to turn the starter.  Think of it as a capacitor.

Any powersports battery should be able to supply enough juice to get the job done.  Just look at the next generation WR450 and copy the specs.
