Choke problem

Recommended Posts

I have a 1984 KDX80 and I just rebuilt the top end on it, for some reason when I put the carb back in the choke seems to be working opposite. It wouldn’t start with it pulled out and then when it did start I wanted to see what it would do and then when I pulled the choke out the bike died. It revs really high when I start it even with the idle screw all the way out. I think I need to mess with the jets but is that all it could be? Thanks

Sounds like the throttle slide is not installed correctly. There is a long groove on one side for the brass pin to slide in. The idle screw goes against the bottom angled slot on the slide. I would pull the carb and have a look to see if it's in 180* out.
