Xl500 No Pull Mid

Gday got an 81 Xl500 that I'm doing up and seems to go pretty well except when you start to give it a bit harder it wont pull in the mid range. It just revs out pretty high until later on in the gear where the revs drop and it picks up speed. Tyre is seated properly and chain and sprockets are pretty recent so no wear there. Thinking possibly clutch is on its way out?

Sounds like your clutch needs replaced. I'd order a complete kit.

I also think it's the clutch.  Slight chance it's out of adjustment, clutch cable not moving easily through its housing or you are using motor oil that is not recommended for motorcycles with wet clutches!
