Fork Question

Recommended Posts

I am helping my son restore a 1993 CR125. When installing new steering stem bearings we realized that one of the turn stops is sheared off. I cannot find a lower clamp anywhere that is not damaged. Can I use a lower clamp from a 92-94 CR250???? The fork O.D. on a 125 is 56.50mm and the fork O.D. on a 250 is 57.50mm. Is the lower clamp the same part as the 250 with a different stem? On my 1994 250 torqued to spec there is still a good 3mm gap in the clamp. This is his first bike so I am not interested in a full blown swap to more advanced forks. If there are any old 90's two stroke guys in the know I would appreciate some feedback on my options. Thanks!

If you can't get to a welder, you can simply fashion a stop block from alloy or steel and through bolt it into the clamp. Works a treat so long as you use a decent diameter bolt.
