saltycove Posted July 4, 2020 Hi, I have a 1985 Honda 50. I have checked with a mechanic-I have good compression, spark, cleaned carb and fresh fuel. Through process of elimination we determined I needed new points. I bought correct points and placed on bike. TopT lines up well but for some reason as I turn the flywheel the points do not open and close. Is it possible as there should be a notch that should be on the flywheel that broke off and is not pushing the points?
William1 My Rides (2) Posted July 4, 2020 At the correct point BTDC, the points must be adjusted to begin to open. The service manual explains the correct setting. The flywheel has a wide 'cam' that moves the points.
