426rich Posted July 9, 2020 So I recently picked up an 02 YZ426F, it didn't come with a title but i checked the vin and it came up clean. The only problem that raises concern for me is that some websites have it come up as a 02 YZ400 and others have it come up as a 02YZ426. Didn't Yamaha stop making the 400's in 2000 or am i mistaken? JJRace Posted July 12, 2020 I wouldnt worry about what is out on websites. I believe the WR400 carried over for 2002, but the YZwas a 426. check the cylinder, will tell you the engine in cubic CCs there. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

cowboyona426 Posted July 15, 2020 The only way to know for sure is to measure the bore. VIN should work but it's an 18 year old bike... Lord knows what has been done to it in those 18 years. YZ became a 426 in 00, WR remained a 400 until 01. 00-02 YZ's had a large red hot start button on the carb that the 98-99 did not have (slightly different carbs).
