If the crank is magnetic, I'm thinking It'll be on the crank :excuseme:

Whoops I meant like if I put a magnet in the crank the magnet will stick to the crank.

The gas will te but the small amount of oil left in the engine that is contaminated won’t.

That small amount will Not hurt anything ...

I haven’t found wire yet does that, if I do does it work well?

No Idea, I've never tried it. Only ever happened to me the once, and I used fuel and tipped the engine upside down.

I'm just a backyard hack :D

Just go get the thinnest magnet 'stick' you can fro the nearest tool/auto supplier and poke it around in the crankcase as much as you can, get a cheapie so you can bend it around the crank a bit. Take your time and hope you're lucky enough for it to pick it up, otherwise it's pull the engine out time.

Just a thought, the flexible magnet strip from an old fridge door may work too.

Now go do it instead of mucking around.

If it was a 2 smoke, I was going to say, pull the head, and flip the bike over and spin the crank slowly. 4 strokie might work. A magnet might work. dont leave it in there...

I’m definitely not leaving it in there.

Pull the engine and turn it upside down.

Or the whole bike, remove grips, throttle, etc.., set on carpet pad, flip over. Hell, I've seen my bike do it by itself.

Grips and throttle,,,huh? My first thought would be the gas tank and drain carb very well. I would also use an old white bed sheet, drip cloth, plastic etc since a circlip could be hard to find in carpet.

Mine too, then figured tank and carb are off for topend job anyways.

I’m assuming you pulled out the drain plug and whatever screens etc in the bottom of your motor (I don’t know this particular bike) and stick a pencil magnet in those? I’d maybe pour some ATF or other thin oil through with the drain out and see if you can flush it out that way. Unless the clip won’t fit out the hole. The flipping the bike sounds good too.
