I’m being serious, Does this really happen? Never seen a camera that was mounted on a helmet with nuts and bolts. Usually a sticky mount.

I've never seen it myself , but I've never inspected anyones helmet either . Judging from some of the stupid things I've seen in 60 years on a bike , I'll assume that it does happen . The article I mentioned above regarding Arai and their philosophy on helmet construction is a good read if you can find it on MXA or Dirt Bike online . I dont need a camera to show me how slow I am ....so it doesnt apply to me .

People IDIOTS drill holes in their helmets on the regular.  Seriously.  This only has one hole, the first version (link in the page) had you drill four holes for bolts!!!

Why are we trying to protect people from themselves?  I thought our culture was based on the premise of freedom and self sovereignty?

That hasn't been what our culture is based on in quite some time.

Liberal nanny-state mentality has been permeating our society for many many years.  Compounded by a culture of "sue everyone" to avoid responsibility & Robin Hood juries awarding insane damage amounts.

It's funny because my most right wing off the grid libertarian friend is also a lawyer that specialized in federal level liability cases.  When the rubber hits the road his ideology seemed to hit the road too because suddenly personal responsibility didn't come first.

Haha yep.  Maybe I need to come up with a different term for what I mean.  When I say liberal, I don't necessarily mean Dems.

It's not a political / voting thing I'm talking about, it's more of a state of mind.

You may not like this ,but in the USA it's like you are treated like children compared to the UK

I know you believe you are the most free nation in the world ,when you are visiting it feels the exact opposite lol

I don't feel like we are the most free, but I also don't believe the published indexes either.  As an example, people in Norway can't do any home repairs.  It has to be by a licensed contractor, yet they often score well on the freedom indices.  I'm not talking building on a new addition, simple things we would do in an afternoon.   In many 3rd world places you're fairly free, except for the local warlord that extorts everything from you.  I suppose you're free to get your own AK and start your own rebel group, but that isn't the type of freedom most people want.  We're on the cusp of compelled speech in the US, that's not the kind of freedom anyone would want either.  Being prosecuted for a hate crime for not using someone's preferred pronoun IS compelled speech and if it isn't here it's right around the corner.

West Virginia and Washington DC are quite a bit different.  It is unlikely you are going to be carrying a gun legally in DC.  Funny thing is, legal gun owners account for a nearly unmeasurable amount of the gun crimes in the U.S.  On the other hand, between half a million and 2.5 million times a year somebody protects themselves with guns in the US according to the CDC.  Why?  Because we have loony bastards running around everywhere with illegal guns.  Our solution?  Make it harder to legally have a gun to protect yourself.  I'd rather we focus on the people illegally obtaining and providing guns.

Yes but the problem is we're the ones empowering the nanny state by electing them.  Our population as a majority is asking for this behavior.

Seems like I recall reading something about the UK having better ways of limiting frivolous lawsuits / excessive damage awards?  If that's true, my guess is that's part of the difference.
