Suspension WR450F 2016 - Rear Suspension Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

My rear suspension isn't for my weight. I already ajusted to the max but the bikes lowers too much... I searched the Yamaha Genuine Parts Catatalogue and saw that this bikes comes with a K=56 suspension. The maximum K (?) is 60; reference 1SL-22212-80, SPRING (K=60 BLUE)

How to I translate this to the maximum weight?

Btw, I have 125kg.

Best regards and thanks for any help given.

I used Racetech spring from their recommended web page ... brillient. 120kilo was a 6.2 spring from memory.

Race Tech Calculator suggests  0.54kg/mm (0.46 is stock) fork springs and 7.0kg/mm (5.7 is stock) rear spring for your weight (I entered some other options as a guess eg your age, stiffness requirement, intended use etc). Its bascially suggesting you need to go 20% stiffer

I've always found the RaceTech calculator to be spot on when suggesting spring rates

Try it out here https://www.racetech.com/ProductSearch/12/Yamaha/WR450F/2016

Click on the "Calculate Spring Rates and Display Available Springs" link on the page the above link takes you to

Don't buy the springs from Yamaha as they are well over priced.

Springs from RaceTech or K-Tech are good and much cheaper
