Supercross 5 Days Away!

Recommended Posts

I'm finally letting myself get excited as it looks like it will actually happen. I think this year is the most difficult to predict what's going to happen because the field has changed so much with several up and comers like AC, Sexton, etc. having the ability to mix it up with the top guys. And the format change, I think the schedule change is going to change the outcome more than we realize.

Should be an exciting year to watch.

AC has proven he has the speed to run with the big dogs as long as he can keep it upright. He's long been considered an SX specialist though he can hang in MX for sure.

This will be Sexton's first 450 season. He doesn't seem phased by much but will he have the ability to run top 5 in SX as he has shown in MX. I'm not so sure it will come as easily to him as running up front in MX.

I was all excited thinking I'd go to the two last rounds here in SLC.  Then I went to the website to buy tickets and got sticker shock.  $150 to over $700.

So now, i'm thinking I'll stay home and watch on TV, where I can drink expensive beer, grill some steak and lobster.

Come on K-Roc!!!!!

That's a great point about the LCQs.  Normally there is one, maybe two good names in there.  This year it will be a pretty exciting race.  Maybe the most exciting of any given night.

This is not a good year to be a privateer.

This is going to be the year of the old dog.  Tomac, Roczen, Musquin, Osborne, Barcia at the end of the year.  Chad Reed, Dungy, and Villopoto will come back for the last round and all 3 will podium.  Stamp it, done deal.  Remember you heard it here first.

If we're bringing back the old dogs lets not forget Hannah and RJ, They'll podium first round after the last one. Double stamp it.

Why do I see Jason Anderson as not a top guy anymore?

Because he comes across as stoner dude.  He would have won the final race last year had his seat not come off.  He's still capable of winning races, but I haven't seen the consistency level required for championship contention.

Seems like his " own thing " is far less effective then the Aldon thing

Call it weed commitment attitude desire training or what we will but I once was a bit floored by him.

That has been a while

He's likable enough and can put in a hard ride.  I've always seem him as a 5th place guy that was last man standing in 2018.  ET MM and KR were all paying for their mistakes and JA got far enough along without making those mistakes that the pressure was off and he could play it safe for the remainder of the year.  He earned it, I'm not saying it doesn't count, I'm just saying he had some good fortune that allowed him to win a championship without being as fast as several other riders.

To paraphrase Rc but he stated you make luck happen.  Jason put him self in the right places at the right times and won a Championship. .  Cooper kinda did that too but I think Cooper has way more talent and could win this year.  Cooper still puts himself in the position to get lucky as I see JA is  not doing this now.   I use to loath JA wins like I did Bayle wins back in the day.  Sadly I don't see those anymore and miss the disappointment I once felt.

That season JA was as fast as anyone, and he took a lot of risks, his riding was exciting to watch. I'm really surprised he was not one of your favorite riders to watch during that time, dude left it all on the table and had some sketchy moments, you usually eat that shit up.
