Are polished springs the bee's knees?

Recommended Posts

I see 2022+ WP now how have polished springs to reduce oil contamination. Is it something worth doing? Does it matter after a 40-50 hours when everything that would rub off has?

Depends on how much seat time you do in a year.  Annual servicing might be fine for a casual, seasonal rider.

Cleaner oil for longer sounds pretty great.  I think most fork springs are shot peened though, I don't know how polishing is going to affect that.

What's more important is making sure the ends are squared and parallel.  No point in polishing a coil that's bowed all catywompus when installed like some OEM springs.  Makes the force-displacement curve all kinds of F'd up too.
