01 wr426 grey wire switch

Hi all, I am new to this forum, and I just got an 01 WR426. I added a toggle switch to the grey wire, and I was wondering if anyone knows if it is advisable to switch from wr to yz as the motor is running, or do I have to turn off the motor to switch it? I have looked for an answer to this in the archives, but I can't find the info. Thanks for any help

You can switch it, but it will change the mode only after you turn off the bike and tirn it on again...
