The brake pad pins or the bolts to mount the caliper to the fork?

Pins should be replaced. I dont believe its necessary to replace to mounting bolts.

I would just do the loctite thing then torque. On my '02 919 the manual says the same thing, replaced them once for a $5 each. Not gonna do that no more,I just clean, loctite and reuse the old ones.If it works on the 919 it will work on the XR.

the clymer talks about replacing the caliper to for bolts each time and to inspect the pins for groving. replace if necesary. i'm going to loctite and torque both and call it good. thanks!

I checked with my dealer over the same issue. They said they never replace them. Just inspect, clean, Loctite and torque. I did the same with no problems .
