Trail 90/110 Electrical Q's

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a friend's bike that is a bit of a hybrid. It is a 79 Trail 90 frame with (I believe) a 1980 Trail 110 motor.

The bike runs great. However none of the lights work. I've traced this to being (at a minimum) blown bulbs. I want to know why they all blew before I replace them. In addition the ground lead is melted in places.

My questions are these:

1) Were there any significant electrical system changes between the models? (eg 6V to 12V)

2) Does anyone have wiring schematics for one or both models?

3) Anything else I should be aware of?

Looking through my Clymer Manual for Honda 50-110cc singles from 1965 to 1999, it appears that both bikes you mention are 6 volt systems. The manual lists the bulbs as being 6 volt.

The Manual number is M310-13, if you're interested. More information from clymer.com HERE

drtbiker...I replied to your PM

burned, thanks I figured that was the case.

Once I get the schematics from drtbiker I'm gonna go over the harness a bit more then replace the bulbs and see how it goes.
