xr-70-r

Recommended Posts

My son has an 03 xr-70. The bike has always ran fine. About a month ago it started smoking. Now it's smoking real bad. The smoke is blue. I put a new plug in it, ran it for 3 minutes and the plug was covered in oil. Does the bike need new rings? Doesn't seem to lose oil and no power problems.

WHAT"S UP??

You guys must use that thing heaps to have it smoking, whens it's only a year old. Anyway, I'm guessing that your pistonrings must be pretty fried or the seals on the valves.

First lets make sure you are putting straight gas in it.If so it is more than likely your piston rings that are bad.But this doesn't usually happen in the first year.

Gas is fine. I've gone through the bike top to bottom. My son is pretty hard on it. Other people have told me it's rings. I just want to make sure before I rip it apart. Are there any test I can do?

Kind of like computers, once you let the smoke out they don't work so well....
