Water pump fix - Need Help??

I'm doing the water pump fix and am replacing the mechanical seal with a new one in addition to the RTV fix. The mechanical seal is the spring loaded seal that mates against the ceramic seal. How do you get the metal cup out of the water pump housing that the mechanical seal fits down into?? This is the pressed metal cup that the spring loaded seal fits into?? I can not get it to move and need to get it out to replace with a new one. I guess I should not have tried to replace this mechanical seal. Please help ?

the cup is part of the seal.its a press fit.not terrible,but it is tight.

use a socket to tap it out from the back side.the plate that it sits in seperates from the big cover.

The bearings are on the back side. Do I need to remove the bearings first, then tap out the cup??

yes,sorry my bad.

the bearing will pop right out with a puch from the opposite side.
