wr450 hesitation

Recommended Posts

James Dean or anyone,

I have an '04 wr450 yz throttle stop, grey wire cut, airbox plug out, baffle out of exhaust, soon to be big gun race series, jd jet kit 170 main, blue needle 3rd from the top clip. I'm at near sea level, weather the day I tested it was 85 and wicked humid. Average riding weather 70 and mild humidity. Zip-ty screw was best at 2.5 turns out but had hesitation and cracking from quick throttle. Any ideas? and will installing the big gun affect anything?

Thanks for your help

Justin

At JD'S suggestion I blocked of the air cut valve by removing the little rubber diaphram, spring and o-ring, I then cut a gasket to fit over the whole thing to seal it off. That makes it run rich off idle so I installed a 40 pilot jet, no more hesitation. If you do a search here you'll see my post about this. I also unplugged my TPS.

try a 40 leak jet in the bottom of the float bowl. This will give you more juice with the AC pump squirt.
