Sealing exhaust can...

Recommended Posts

I had to pull the can off of my exhaust today because my quiet core wouldn't come out... Anyway when I put it back on I sealed it with Permatex silicone gasket. Does anyone have any better suggestion when it comes to sealing exhausts? I also have a very small leak where the slip on meets the exhaust header and I was planning on using the same stuff to seal the leak.

Thanks.

That is what I use to seal exhaust leaks. As long as it is a high temp silcone gasket you should be fine.

What temp rating do you use? I use(d) the 600 deg F red stuff. They had some other kind but I was told by another rider to use the red permatex.... I figured it was definitely ok for the can since it's so far downstream but was not sure about the slip on/exhaust header union.

Thanks.
