Any Tips?

Recommended Posts

I'm installing new valves tonight and was wondering if there are any tips/suggestions I should know about. I have a service manual that I can go step by step with. Any other help would be great. Did you guys use a spring decompressor tool or something homeade? Thanks!

I used a washer with 2 pieces of pipe split and a C clamp when you get the keepers in and the valves tight hit the valve stem several times with a soft hammer to seat the valve keepers you can lap the exhaust valves but DONOT lap the titanium intake valves.

Same here, i use a large c-clamp with a piece of rubber on the valve side to prevent the clamp from denting or messing up the head. I cut a piece if pvc tubing the size of the valve springs and slotted 1/3 of the pvc tubing out to allow access to the valve keepers. same tap the valve with a soft hammer. Works great!
